1952

The foundation stones are laid: The beginning of the development of dictation machines.

1954

Grundig brings its first dictation machine to the market, the Stenorette A, the so-called "tree frog".

1957

Max Grundig builds the "largest tape recorder factory in the world" in Bayreuth. It starts production on July, 15th, 1957.

1958

The 1,000th member of staff is employed in Bayreuth.

1963

The number of employees in Bayreuth rises to 2,000.

1971

Introduction of the first Mini-Index-Cassette with integrated Tape counter, the Steno Cassette 30.

1972

The Stenorette 2002 is manufactured, the first desktop dictation system with the Steno Cassette 30. Also the Stenorette SL – the professional Stenorette with a metallic look and a die cast frame – and a portable dictation system for use both in and out of the office. The production of these devices lasted for around 20 years.

1979

The CS 2000 conference system is launched.

1983

A historical moment: The Steno Cassette 30 becomes the DIN standard (DIN32750) and the yardstick for quality!

1984

Development of the first really portable dictation machine, the Stenorette 2080.

1989

Dr. Max Grundig dies at the age of 81.

1990

Introduction to the market of the first digital dictation system: PC Diktat 2000.

1993

The Bayreuth works is the first Grundig works to receive a DIN ISO 9001 certificate.

1995

Already the pathfinder for cassette based dictation systems; Grundig now becomes the pioneer for digital speech recording. The DSS standard (Digital Speech Standard) is developed and introduced by Grundig as a joint project of the IVA (International Voice Association, comprising Grundig, Olympus and Philips).

2001

Separation of the dictation machine activities from Grundig AG a new company Grundig Business Systems GmbH (GBS) is established.

2002

Market launch for the digital PC transcription solutions StenoNet.type, Steno.write and Walkabout.write as well as the Digta 4010, Digta 3010 and 5210, digital portables with MultiMedia cards using the DSS standard.

2003

Acquisition and successful continuation of Grundig Business Systems by the INDUC AG.

2004

The range of digital devices is expanded to include the Stenorette digital Sd 4240 dual dictation and transcription station. Other highlights are the launch of the portable Digta 4015 – a high quality digital dictation device and the barcode scanner to put on top of the device.

2005

Introduction of the world's first RFID scanner for dictation devices and the professional Digta Soundbox 820 USB transcription station with integrated sound card.

2006

First devices of the 400 series: Digta 410. Certification according to the Automotive Quality Standard TS 16949.

2007

The focus of Grundig Business Systems' celebration was geared towards the "50 years production site Bayreuth" jubilee on 15th July 2007.  At the same time a new product family of digital dictation devices was launched: The DigtaSonic range comes with a smooth "Soft Touch Composite" finish. The digital dictation machine Digta 420 is the world's first mobile dictation device featuring a colour display and supporting the improved DSSPro language standard, developed under the aegis of Grundig Business Systems. The dictation machine Digta 415 with the Digta Station received the prestigious international iF Product Design Award.

2008

Launch of the Digta CordEx, the first professional wireless dictation microphone, combining the benefits of desktop dictation with the flexibility of mobile dictation devices. Again the iF Design Award is won, this time for the dictation microphone Digta SonicMic, the forerunner of the new premium product family digta Sonic.
