In everyday clinical practice, doctors have numerous conversations with their patients every day. These conversations contain valuable information—but documenting them takes time and attention. At the same time, the systemic crisis in healthcare is worsening. This makes it all the more important that the time available for each patient is used for what really matters: providing individual, empathetic care.
Whether during the medical history, consultation, treatment, or discharge, Dragon Copilot supports doctors and nurses throughout all phases. With the patient's consent, the AI listens in on conversations via a room microphone or smartphone. It captures everything in real time and automatically creates structured medical notes. Medical staff then review, complete, and approve the texts. The intuitive user interface also supports them with text modules, templates, AI prompts, and more.
As part of the Microsoft for Healthcare initiative, Dragon Copilot is based on a secure, modern cloud architecture hosted in the EU. The solution combines the proven speech recognition of Dragon Medical One (DMO) with the ambient listening technology of Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX) and state-of-the-art generative AI. Dragon Copilot meets the high requirements for precision, transparency, and data security in the clinical environment.
Since spring 2025, Dragon Copilot has been used in five selected German hospitals. In addition to Berlin's Charité hospital, the University Hospital Mannheim, Stuttgart Hospital, Hannover Region Hospital, and BG Bergmannstrost Halle Hospital also participated. Feedback from doctors was unanimously positive. The reduction in the documentation workload for medical staff was evident, as was their improved focus on patients.
